Financial Sanctions - Al-Qaida and the Taliban 8 August 2006

The United Nations Sanctions Committee has added a further one individual and one entity to the UN Consolidated List maintained under Resolution 1390 (2002). This individual and entity are therefore now subject to financial sanctions in the Isle of Man under the Al-Qa'ida and Taliban (United Nations Measures) (Isle of Man) Order 2002 ("the 2002 Order").

Financial institutions and other persons should check if they maintain accounts or otherwise hold funds, financial assets, economic benefits or economic resources for any of the persons or entities named on the Consolidated List. If any are found these should be frozen and the details reported to the Sanctions Officer.

The details of the new entries on the Consolidated List may be found at the bottom of this news release.

The revised list of persons and entities subject to sanctions under the 2002 Order may be found at http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/publications/financialsanctions/index.htm

Further information may be obtained from the Sanctions Officer.
