Mylene Brings a Touch of Klass to Fairy Bridge 9 August 2006

Popular ex Hear’Say singer and GMTV presenter Mylene Klass is to pay a visit to the Isle of Man later this month. She will film a piece about the fairies at Fairy Bridge for the GMTV show on weekday mornings presented by Lorraine Kelly.

Mylene and the rest of the GMTV crew will arrive on Tuesday 22 August and will be accompanied by representatives from the Department of Tourism and Leisure for the duration of their visit.

This is just one of 48 visits assisted by the Department of Tourism and Leisure to date this year. The Department provides various degrees of support to TV crews and journalists. The Island has received excellent coverage with articles such as a double page spread in Best magazine, resulting from a film themed group press visit, amounting to £40,000 in estimated advertising value. BBC 2 Country File programme, facilitated by the Department, was worth a staggering £450,000.

Tourism and Leisure Minister David Cretney said:

‘It is important that we raise the profile of the Island as a holiday destination and build on the good publicity we are constantly receiving. I am looking forward to meeting the GMTV crew and my Department will ensure they receive a warm welcome to our beautiful Island.’

Other visits facilitated by the Department this year include BBC Northern Ireland travel series ‘Getaways’, BBC Radio Ulster ‘Your Place and Mine’, BBC1 ‘Mighty Truck of Stuff’, Border TV ‘Sea Stories’ , Channel 4 ‘A Place by the Sea’, Japanese magazine ‘Relax’, Channel 4 ‘Time Team’ and ‘Coast’ magazine.
