Department of Transport announces the completion of Vicarage Road/Saddle Road improvements 22 August 2006

Vicarage & Saddle Road ImprovementsThe Department of Transport is pleased to announce that construction work on the new mini roundabout at the junction between Vicarage Road and Saddle Road has been completed nearly two weeks ahead of schedule - in readiness for the busy Manx Grand Prix period.

he new junction layout is part of the Douglas Outer Link programme, which is now more than halfway towards completion. The mini roundabout will improve safety and visibility for vehicles approaching the junction from all directions. It also provides a safer crossing point for pedestrians and should reduce traffic queues in the area.

Director of Highways, Bruce Hannay comments,

“The Department remains extremely grateful to the public for their patience whilst the latest phase of our Douglas Outer Link programme was being undertaken. As usual our Works Division has completed the job to exceptionally high standard, ahead of schedule and within budget.”
