Term Time Sporting Opportunities 6 September 2006

The Sport Development Unit are once again running a wide range of sporting activities during the forthcoming Autumn term time period for children aged 6 – 14 years old.

Sessions, held at the National Sports Centre, start on Monday 11 September and run through to Friday 22 December, with a break during half term (Monday 30 October – Friday 3 November). Most sessions take place between 5–6pm and cost just £1.00. The fee must be paid at the NSC main reception before the start of each activity, with the exception of Play the Games Football, where payment should be made at the NSC outdoor reception next to the astro pitch.

All sessions, including netball, football, indoor bowls, badminton and squash, are run by enthusiastic qualified coaches. Additionally there is a multi sport session for 6–7 year olds and fitness and circuit sessions for 8–11 and 12–15 year olds respectively.

Gianni Epifani, Sport Development Officer, said:

‘These sessions offer young people the opportunity to get involved in structured sport outside of school and develop and harness their skills. Also there are sessions such as bowls and fitness type classes that offer youngsters who might not be attracted into main stream sport a different option.’

Application forms should be handed to the coach at the start of the first session and are available from the Sport Development Office notice board at the NSC. For further details and an application form please visit www.gov.im/sport, email enquiries@msr.dtl.gov.im or contact the Sport Development Office on 688592.
