Healthcare Commission Report - Workshop 8 September 2006

Healthcare Commission WorkshopThe Department of Health and Social Security yesterday (Thursday 7th September) held a workshop to discuss and develop action plans to address the key recommendations identified in the report from the Healthcare Commission about Noble’s Hospital (published in August 2006).

The event was held at the Villa Marina and over 70 professionals, with a diverse range of expertise such as consultants, midwives, nurses, senior civil servants and patient representatives attended.

Anne Craine MHK, Member for Health, who participated, said,

Healthcare Commission Workshop“I feel that the workshop has been a great success, building on the good work already carried out since the publication of the report and laying the foundations for further improved services delivered by Noble’s Hospital in the future. The opportunity to discuss directly and openly the key issues raised by the report with key stakeholders in a joint forum is vital for good communication throughout the DHSS. The fruitful discussions held today and the action plans under development are an exceptional start and are a springboard for future planning.”

David Killip, DHSS Chief Executive said,

Healthcare Commission Workshop“Today’s workshop has been an incredibly valuable exercise. The aim and the focus of the workshop was to develop action plans to implement the Healthcare Commission’s recommendations. It was particularly valuable that the ideas brought forward today came directly from those professionals who are responsible for planning and implementing the delivery of services. The level of engagement with the Healthcare Commission recommendations and the shared ownership of finding solutions was particularly impressive.”

A number of strands of work will now be taken forward at both Hospital and Department level involving clinicians, other healthcare professionals, managers and political members.
