Plans for Major Development in Ballasalla to be unveiled 8 September 2006

The Department of Local Government and the Environment is to unveil its plans for a major housing development at Crossag Farm in Ballasalla. Residents of Ballasalla are invited to attend an exhibition in the Ballasalla Village Hall on Thursday 14th September at any time between 12.30 pm and 8.30 pm.

Plans for a major improvement and partial redevelopment of their Clagh Vane Estate will also be on display. Tenants have been invited to meet the officers of the Department to discuss the proposals on Wednesday 13th September between 12.30 pm and 6.30 pm.

Anne Craine, MHK, who is the Member responsible for housing within the Department, said:

“This is a wonderful opportunity for Ballasalla. The proposals on display will show a high-quality housing development which has been designed by McGarrigle and Jackson Architects in conjunction with the developer J G Kelly Limited. The design includes a mixture of higher-priced, open-market properties and first-time buyer housing for sale, along with public sector housing”.

She went on to say,

“The development has also given us an opportunity to consider major improvements on the Clagh Vane Estate and I hope the vast majority of tenants will be able to attend and speak to the Department staff at the exhibition”.

The Minister, John Rimington, MHK, also stated:

“There has been close co-operation between Government Departments and J G Kelly Limited. The exhibition will therefore include proposals for a new school site and a consultation exercise by the Department of Transport for a new Ballasalla relief road. I hope that there will be a good attendance at the exhibition where there will be the opportunity to discuss the proposals in some detail”.

If all goes according to plan the Department will be seeking approval to proceed with a planning application at the October sitting of Tynwald.
