IPA Annual Report 2005-06 Released 13 September 2006

The Insurance and Pensions Authority has released its annual report for the year ended 31st March 2006. The report gives an overview of the activities of the Authority during the period, along with the sector that it regulates. The Authority’s Chief Executive, David Vick, stated:

“The Authority is committed to demonstrating openness and transparency in all aspects of its work, and I hope that this report will be helpful in explaining the structure, policies and responsibilities of the Authority.

Many areas of the sector achieved strong growth during the period and are poised to continue that growth. This is good news for the Isle of Man’s economy as a whole, since the insurance and pensions sector is a vital element of its overall success. Nevertheless, it continues to face challenges on a number of fronts. The IPA will continue to work to help create a secure environment for policyholders and scheme members and one that enables high quality business to flourish, underpinned by a regulatory framework that meets international standards in a way that is appropriate for the Isle of Man’s Market. This annual report describes how the Authority seeks to achieve this and its other aims and objectives.”
