Complaints against Chief Constable were unsubstantiated 6 October 2006

Home Affairs Minister John Shimmin has issued a statement at the conclusion of the investigation into complaints made against the Chief Constable, Mike Culverhouse.

Mr Shimmin said:

‘Following various complaints made by five officers against the Chief Constable, my Department requested an external force to carry out an independent investigation. The Chief Constable of Hampshire Constabulary undertook enquiries and recommended to me that following his investigations all allegations were unsubstantiated. The investigations were reviewed by Sir Dan Crompton – a former Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Constabulary and one of Her Majesty’s former Inspectors of Constabulary – who concurred with the findings.
‘My decision has been to accept all the findings and recommendations and I confirm that all the allegations have been found to be unsubstantiated.’
