The Conference, held annually between Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, brought together over 100 Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors from the three Islands. Delegates came from both the public and independent healthcare sectors.

Guest speaker, Maria Sinfield, Senior Nurse with the Merseyside and Cheshire Strategic Health Authority, gave an inspirational keynote speech emphasizing the importance of measuring nursing care and demonstrating to patients and the public that good quality nursing makes a real difference to the care patient’s receive.

Bev Critchlow said,

“Our aim was to bring together Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors from the three Islands. Whilst we recognize that the healthcare systems on each of the Islands is different, there are many things which are the same. We have certain things in common, we deliver nursing care to small communities in relative isolation from the U.K. and getting together brings a great opportunity to share knowledge and experiences. We are really pleased with the interest this Conference has generated. It is important that we continually strive to improve services for the Island’s community and during the course of this Conference excellent examples of innovative nursing practice has been highlighted and shared. This will help us improve care for patients.”
