Isle of Man Ambulance Paramedic and Patient Transport Service - Investor in People Training Accreditation Awards 31 October 2006

The Department of Health and Social Security is pleased to announce that the Isle of Man Ambulance Paramedic and Patient Transport Service has been given a clean bill of health from both the Institute for Health Care & Development (IHCD) and the Investors in People Award (IIP). Therefore, they will be able to continue with their on Island training programmes, which have IHCD recognition, and proudly display the fact that they are an organisation that has been identified as one that invests in its workforce.

Steve Rodan, Minister for Health and Social Security said,

“I am delighted that the Ambulance Service has received this worthy recognition. These awards are demonstrative that the service’s managers and staff, working as a team, are not only prepared for the demands that are placed upon them today, but are continually training and developing staff to improve service delivery so that it meets ever changing demands and requirements in the future.

Chief Ambulance Officer, Steve Sieling said,

“For a small service, we have a very strong team that produces excellent results. The latest recognition from both the IHCD and IIP proves that there is a commitment to provide the best services possible, from highly trained members of staff, who are continuously undertaking development to a national standard.”

During September, the Island’s ambulance service was visited by two organisations: The Institute for Health Care & Development (IHCD) and the Centre for Assessment and Recognition (NW) Ltd, who conduct reviews in relation to the Investors in People Award (IIP).

The first visit, from the IHCD, was to audit and review the service’s training systems, policies and procedures for the purpose of continued accreditation to facilitate ambulance training here in the Island.

The second visit was to review the service against the standards set by Investors in People Award and reaccredit them as an IIP recognised organisation.
