Future for Castle Mona Hotel hopeful 5 January 2007

The Department of Tourism and Leisure is welcoming the news that interest is being shown by a number of parties in the Castle Mona Hotel.

Minister for Tourism and Leisure Hon Adrian Earnshaw MHK is pleased that progress appears to be being made. He said:

‘On my first day as Minister I was faced with the unwelcome news regarding closure of the hotel at a very bad time for many people and businesses. I am, however, encouraged that the Castle Mona may be retained as a tourism facility. My Department looks forward to working closely with future owners who are prepared to operate as a hotel and invest in improving the quality of tourism in the Isle of Man.’

The Department hopes that an early conclusion can be reached on the future of the Castle Mona, particularly with the pressure on bed spaces for the TT and other events.
