Youth Road Shows announced 9 January 2007

THE Youth Service is running a road show throughout the Island to promote the introduction of a Youth Forum for youngsters aged 13-plus.

Spokesman Jen Casson said:

‘We want the voice of young people to be heard and want to actively encourage young people to have their say on issues that affect them. These events are a follow-up to the launch, in December, of Join In, Speak Up.’

Jen, a senior youth worker (participation) with the Youth Service, added:

‘In order to do this we are bringing the Youth Service to the young people and we will be travelling to four areas of the Island to meet with and encourage young people to become involved.’

The venues are: DouglasVilla Marina, Joe Loss Bar, January 15, 7.30pm-9pm. South – St Catherine’s Church, Port Erin, January 18, 7.30pm-9pm. Ramsey – Town Hall, January 22, 7.30pm-9pm. Peel – Centenary Hall, Athol Room, January 24, 7.30-9pm.

Jen continued:

‘These will be fun events, with games, refreshments and an opportunity to hear what other young people have to say. We look forward to seeing you there.’
