A.A. Gill gives Isle of Man Restaurant the Thumbs up 23 January 2007

Food and restaurant critic, A.A. Gill, has rated Isle of Man restaurant, Ciappelli’s, as one of the top restaurants for 2006 - the only one he nominated outside of London – in The Sunday Times ‘Style’ magazine.

Mr Gill, renowned for his harsh criticism and caustic turn of wit, gave Ciappelli’s four stars, placing it alongside nine top London restaurants including The Wallace Collection and The Wolseley.

Ciappelli’s, located in Douglas, is one of the premier dining places in the Isle of Man. It was established in 1989 and offers guests a combination of excellent international cuisine, luxurious décor and great service.

Tourism and Leisure Minister Adrian Earnshaw said:

‘It is most pleasing that Ciapelli’s has been rated by Mr Gill as one of the top restaurants for 2006. It represents the best standard of quality and service and my Department looks forward to more restaurants receiving similar recognition in the future.’
