YOU had to be active and energetic to go to school at Anagh Coar Primary last week.

The school has been Sport adds spice at Anagh Coar Schoolworking in partnership with Manx Sport and Recreation to host the first ever Manx Youth Games-themed

week.

This allowed children in Years 3 to 6 to have a go at 11 of the 12 sports that feature in this year's Manx Youth Games.

The fit and active pupils in Key Stage Two all took part in short mat bowls, tennis, badminton, squash, basketball, netball, football, athletics, uni-hoc, tag-rugby and table tennis over the course of the week.

Coming to school each day in their sports wear, there was a true sporting atmosphere within school, head teacher Jo Richardson said.

Qualified coaches from each of the sports worked with the children at the NSC and at the school itself.

Mrs Richardson said:

'MSR have been absolutely fantastic. Both staff and pupils have benefited from the expert tuition from the coaches and we have all learnt lots of new skills, while the staff have had to be even more creative than usual teaching other curricular areas through sport.'

The week ended in a medals ceremony and presentation to which parents, coaches and MSR were invited.

'Everyone had a wonderful, energetic and inspiring week.,' said Mrs Richardson.
