TT Grandstand Development 9 February 2007

Construction work has commenced on development of the TT Grandstand in preparation for the 2007 centenary races.

The Department of Tourism and Leisure has appointed contractors to fit-out the existing storage bays whilst also included in the project is the purchase of mobile toilets and the provision of event flooring.

Tourism and Leisure Minister Adrian Earnshaw explained:

‘This is an excellent development providing new facilities for all visitors to the Grandstand which have been identified as necessary as a result of consultation undertaken in 2006. Since the completion of the building in 1986, the area beneath the southern seating deck has remained undeveloped and we can now look forward to utilising that space more appropriately in 2007.’

The project is expected to be completed by the end of March.
