Transport minister welcomes new political member 26 February 2007

The Minister for Transport, Hon David Anderson MHK, is pleased to welcome Alan Crowe MLC to the Department.

Mr Crowe was appointed to the Department following his election to the Legislative Council last week. Having previously been first an MHK and then an MLC between 1995 and 2003, Mr Crowe has wide governmental experience, having held posts in Education, Trade and Industry, Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Local Government and the Environment, and Treasury.

Mr Anderson said:

‘I’m delighted that someone of Alan’s political calibre and experience is joining our team. His areas of responsibility will be the Design and Works Divisions and I’m sure he’s keen to familiarise himself with the workings of both.’

Mr Crowe joins Tim Crookall MHK (Highways) and David Quirk MHK (Properties and Drainage) as the Department’s political members.

Mr Crowe said:

‘The Department of Transport is a fascinating area of government, which affects the lives of everyone on a daily basis and I’m looking forward to using the experience I have gained in other areas of government to enhance the strengths of the Department’s political team.’
