Amateur Swimming Association Level one Course 26 March 2007

An Amateur Swimming Association level one course was completed recently by 13 candidates at the National Sports Centre.

As an ASA approved education centre, the NSC continues to run both level one and two swimming teaching courses leading to a nationally recognised qualification. This course continued over a full week under the guidance of ASA tutor Mary Doyle.

The Department of Education’s school swimming programme was used for all the practical sessions and a thank you is expressed to the Department’s Teacher at the NSC, Theresa Smith, for her support and involvement.

Activities Officer and course organiser for the NSC Ken Hedley commented:

‘We have now held over 10 courses on the Island, training swimming teachers at both levels one and two. We have also developed a good team partnership with the on-Island tutor Mary Doyle, Theresa Smith of the Department of Education and ourselves to deliver sound professional courses leading to the Amateur Swimming Association’s qualifications.’

For further information on forthcoming courses please contact Ken Hedley at the NSC on 688588.
