Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (“MiFID”) Seminar 20 April 2007

The Financial Supervision Commission is holding a half day seminar on the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive on 14th May 2007.

The seminar will be of interest to all financial organisations undertaking business within the EU and in particular, to those responsible for compliance and managing risk within those organisations.

The Key Speakers are –

Angela Knight CBE, Chief Executive of the British Bankers’ Association, who will be speaking on the opportunities and issues for Isle of Man Financial Institutions of all types; and

Philip Buttifant, Director of Wholesale Policy, British Bankers’ Association, who will cover some MiFID specifics including Best Execution, Customer Classification and selling into the EU from a British Isle.

Commenting on this event the Commission’s Chief Executive, John Aspden said “The Commission is very pleased that Angela Knight and Philip Buttifant are able to come to the Island to give an island slant on such a topical subject. MiFID has been much publicised in the financial press although its impact on institutions outside the EU has been less so. I am sure that we will benefit greatly from hearing Angela and Philip’s views on the topic.”

Details of the seminar can be obtained from the Commission’s web-site at http://www.fsc.gov.im/events.xml or on 689300.
