16 New First Time-Buyer Homes Planned at Cronk Grianagh in Braddan 25 April 2007

The Department of Local Government and the Environment has submitted a planning application for the development of 16 houses for first-time buyers on a site at Cronk Grianagh in Braddan.

Phil Halliwell, Project Manager for the Department, explained that the Department has selected Parkinson Ltd. as preferred Developer for the project following a tendering process. The 10 three-bedroom semi-detached and 6 two-bedroom terraced houses detailed in the planning application will be approved dwellings under the House Purchase Assistance Scheme and built to standards defined by the Department for all affordable housing developments.

Juan Watterson, MHK, Member of the Department with responsibility for Estates and Housing said,

“The Department has a programme for over 400 new first-time buyer homes, to be completed over the next 3 years, which will be allocated to local people who are on the Department’s first-time buyers’ register. The houses previously completed at Cronk Grianagh proved very popular with first-time buyers and I believe that this latest development will prove to be equally popular”.

Subject to receipt of a favourable planning decision the Department hopes that the first homes will be ready for sale in the summer of 2008.
