New DHSS Finance Director 29 May 2007

Simon Jackson The Department of Health and Social Security announced that Simon Jackson has taken up his post as the new Director of Finance, replacing David Rogers who left earlier this year.

The announcement follows news that the Department’s overspend was £1.75 million, which is less than anticipated by over one million pounds.

Eddie Teare, MHK Minister for Health and Social Security said,

“I am pleased with the progress that the Department has made in gaining control of its budget. I know that everyone working for the Department has felt pressure and I gratefully appreciate their efforts over the last six months. There are still challenges ahead to stabilise the budgetary pressures, however the appointment of Simon Jackson is an important step in overcoming them.”

David Killip, DHSS Chief Executive said,

“I am delighted to welcome Simon Jackson to the Department. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be invaluable as the Department continues to make significant progress towards operating within the allocated budget.”

Simon Jackson, new DHSS Director of Finance said,

“I am looking forward to taking on a key role in the challenge to control and manage the Department’s finances. I am confident that the staff of the Department will continue to rise to this challenge. My initial objective is to get the message of accountability and the desire to maximise Value for Money to everyone in the Department and the organisations contracted to provide services on behalf of the Department.”
