Motorcycle Academy tours Isle of Man 1 June 2007

Eight trainees on an advanced riding course with members of the Motorcycle Academy visited the Isle of Man last week. The Academy has been visiting the Island for several years and organises advanced training courses for motorcyclists, avoiding peak periods such as the TT races and Manx Grand Prix.

The Department of Tourism and Leisure’s Tourism Development team and Magic Holidays are currently in discussions with the Motorcycle Academy, looking at ways and means of promoting and packaging their training courses. It is anticipated that the Island’s leisure products will be incorporated into their packages, with particular emphasis on the key products the Island has to offer – culture, marine and coastal activities, nature and wildlife, films, railways, motorsport and conferences.

Tourism and Leisure Minister Adrian Earnshaw said:

‘I am pleased that the Motorcycle Academy continues to bring trainees to the Island and in addition the Department is hoping to combine training riders with a taste of Isle of Man culture.

During their visit the group visited several attractions and joined a ghost walk which they thoroughly enjoyed. It is hoped in future there will be a full programme of visits, excursions and evening activities which can be tailored to the requirements of each individual group. Being a keen motorcyclist myself I would like to join them on a future course.’
