Update on effect of industrial action on Isle of Man Customers 2 August 2007

With strike action continuing in Royal Mail, a further update regarding the effect it is having on Isle of Man Customers has been made by Isle of Post Office.

Wednesday 1st August

Customers posting mail from the Island today will unfortunately see all services disrupted due to the strike action in the UK, which will specifically affect the distribution and delivery networks today and tomorrow. Due to this, the time guarantee for Special Delivery will be suspended and the delivery of mail bound for UK, European and international addresses will be delayed by 24 hours.

Thursday 2nd – Saturday 4th August

Isle of Man Customers posting mail from the Island will see no affect from the industrial action, however Customers may experience the affect of any backlog of mail.

Inbound mail to the Island on Thursday morning will be affected and Customers are likely to receive reduced volumes of mail. This is due to the UK network disruption on Wednesday evening. The backlog is expected to be delivered to Customers by the end of the week.

During the industrial action Parcelforce and bank pouch services are remaining unaffected as is local to local mail.

Customers with any queries can contact our Customer Services Team on 664664. During the strike we expect to receive a high volume of calls and if all operators are busy customers they will be diverted to a voicemail service. Customers are asked to leave a message with contact details and a member of the team will return their call as soon as possible.

Isle of Man Post Office is continuing to liaise with Royal Mail on a daily basis and an update regarding the expected disruption for next week will be made on Monday 6th August. The industrial action is expected to run until Wednesday 8th August 2007.
