Financial Sanctions: Al-Qa'ida and Taliban 30 August 2007

This news release is issued in respect of the financial measures taken against Al-Qa'ida and the Taliban.

The Treasury advises that on 27 August 2007 the United Nations Sanctions Committee approved the addition of the following individual to the UN Consolidated List maintained under Resolution 1390(2002).


DROUKDEL, Abdelmalek

DOB: 20 April 1970

POB: Meftah, Wilaya of Blida, Algeria


Nationality: Algerian

Address: Locality of Zayane, Meftah, Wilaya of Blida, Algeria

Other Information: Member of The Organisation of Al-Qa'ida in the Islamic Maghreb. The tribunal at Tizi-Ouzou (Algeria) issued a warrant for his arrest on 15 January 2005 and sentenced him in absentia to life imprisonment on 21 March 2007. Name of father is Rabah Droukdel. Name of mother is Z'hour Zdigha.

Financial institutions and other persons are requested to check whether they maintain any accounts or otherwise hold any funds, other financial assets, economic benefits and economic resources for the individual named and, if so, they should freeze the accounts or other funds or assets and immediately report their findings to the Sanctions Officer at Customs and Excise.
