Third Phase jetty works for Tower of Refuge 17 August 2007 The Department of Transport is to commence the third phase of works which will complete the preparatory works for the new landing on Conister Rock adjacent to the Tower of Refuge. Work will start on the 28th August on the afternoon tide, following which work will be carried out between the hours of 6.00am and 8.30pm for approximately one week. However, the work is weather and tide dependent. The Department will dig into the rock in order to reduce the amount of concrete needed to form the new landing which will facilitate the essential ongoing maintenance of the Tower of Refuge. The Department advises that there may be some noise disturbance created by these works, the likelihood of which will be dependent on weather conditions. More stories >>>
