MGP figures up 25per cent on last year 4 September 2007

Manx Grand Prix 2007 has given Island tourism a boost attracting approximately 9,000 visitors over the two-week festival.

This year’s event has proved to be the most successful in recent years with a 25% increase on last year’s tournament including almost 3,500 bikes.

The success of the MGP follows the hugely successful centenary TT races in June of this year. Minister for Tourism and Leisure, Adrian Earnshaw said:

‘As a motorsport fan, 2007 has been my favourite year on the Isle of Man. We have been witness to some fantastic racing, first from the centenary TT, then Rally Isle of Man and now the Manx GP. I am delighted to see that the hard work of my Department as well as other agencies across the Island has paid off not only in terms of delivering great competition but also in attracting both new and continuing visitors to the Isle of Man. I would like to thank everyone involved for all their hard work and commitment.’
