Records Management Workshop 11 September 2007

Over the past decade changes in business practice, statutory requirements and the use of technology has meant that many businesses have struggled to manage important records. For example, a member of staff may have corresponded with a client but a copy of that correspondence has not been placed in the client’s file.

One of the statutory requirements is the Data Protection Act 2002.

On 23rd October 2007 the transitional exemption for personal data held in manual files created before the 1st April 2003 expires and after this date all personal data held by an organisation must comply with the Data Protection Principles including the time for keeping data. To mark this date, and in response to requests, the Office of the Data Protection Supervisor has arranged to hold Records Management Workshops in the Island.
