Another first as "MS Fram" Cruise Ship visits Isle of Man 20 September 2007

On Monday 24 September the Isle of Man will welcome the newly commissioned MS Fram cruise ship. Arriving from Londonderry, the 114m long, 12,700 ton vessel, carrying 318 passengers and 150 crew, is scheduled to berth in Douglas at 0800 hours. This is the ship’s inaugural visit.

Organised guided tours have been arranged and will include a visit to Laxey, Snaefell, House of Manannan and Tynwald. During their visit the ship will be presented with a plaque by the Hon Adrian Earnshaw, Minister for Tourism and Leisure to mark the occasion of its first call to the Island.

Geoff Corkish MBE MHK and political member of the Department of Tourism and Leisure said:

‘This year we have welcomed back many cruise ships and through our continued efforts we are delighted to welcome for the first time the MS Fram which is on a 67 day Hurtigruten cruise from the Arctic to the Antarctic. Like many of the other cruise ships visiting the Isle of Man I hope the passengers will soon return having sampled the hospitality and unique aspects of our Island.’

The MS Fram will depart for Cork at 1800 hours and will return again in 2008.
