New sewer rehabilitation contract signed 2 October 2007

The Department has signed a new five-year contract with Insituform Technologies Ltd to continue the programme of surveying and lining the Island’s sewage network.

Over the last five years, Insituform has surveyed 100 kilometres of sewers using CCTV, with 51 kilometres of sewer being lined and 6,000 connections opened.

That contract expired in the summer and the Department went out to tender for the next five years.

David Anderson MHK, Minister for Transport,’ said:

‘We are pleased to award the new All-Island Sewer Rehabilitation contract to Insituform. Our working relationship with the company over the last five years has been first-class and we know they have the knowledge and expertise to continue the programme.
‘During the five-year framework from 2002 to 2007, the expenditure has been achieved within programme and within budget, with between £1.5 million and £1.9 million spent each year.’

Mark Neal, Managing Director at Insituform Technologies, said:

‘We are delighted to have been awarded the new framework contract for sewer rehabilitation in the Isle of Man. We look forward to continuing our working relationship with the Department and its agents.’
