Proceeds of Crime Legislation 3 October 2007

The Treasury has today published a further consultation document which outlines the various measures it intends to include in a Bill to be put before Tynwald later this year or in early 2008.

The Bill contains proposals to provide for a civil forfeiture regime, and to amend existing anti-money laundering legislation and the law concerned with the seizure of cash connected to crime.

The Bill would also seek to amend the provisions dealing with providing assistance to off-Island agencies in their investigations. The consultation document can be found here.

The closing date for responses is 31st October 2007.
