New Isle of Man Pensions Ombudsman to visit the Island 4 October 2007

The Department of Health and Social Security is pleased to announce that Mr Tony King, who was recently appointed as the Pensions Ombudsman for the United Kingdom, is to visit the Island on Wednesday 10th October 2007 to formally accept appointment as the Island’s Pensions Ombudsman.

Juan Watterson MHK, Tynwald Member with special responsibility for Social Security said,

“I am delighted to welcome Tony King as the new Pensions Ombudsman, and thank David Laverick for the important work he has done in this role for the last six years. The Isle of Man Pensions Ombudsman provides an invaluable role in ensuring that Manx people in pension schemes have the best available consumer protection."

Mr King succeeds Mr David Laverick who retired in August 2007.

He will be welcomed to the Island by Mr Eddie Teare MHK, Minister for Health and Social Security, who will formally invite him to accept appointment as the Isle of Man Pensions Ombudsman.
