Isle of Man Nominated For Travel Advertising Awards 16 October 2007

The Department of Tourism and Leisure is celebrating after being nominated for an award for two best poster adverts and best poster campaign in the Travel Advertising Awards 2007.

The Travel Advertising Awards, organised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing Travel Industry Group (CIMTIG) and now in their 35th year, are established as one of the most prestigious events in the industry. This year the Awards were held at The Radisson SAS Hotel in Portman Square, London, on Thursday 11 October, and Senior Business Development Manager Dave Fallows and Quality and Service Manager Julie Shorrock attended the Awards ceremony on behalf of the Department.

Judged by some of the leading lights of the travel and marketing industries, the competition is tough, and the Isle of Man Department of Tourism and Leisure was short listed out of numerous nominations. The Island was competing against, Silverjet and Visit London in the Best Poster Ad category with their ‘Ozone Friendly’ and ‘Inner Child’ posters, and in the Best Poster Campaign category with their ‘Set Yourself Free’ campaign, alongside India Tourism,, Tourism Ireland and Visit London. Visit London won the Best Poster Ad award and won the Best Poster Campaign award.

Director of Tourism Geoff Le Page said: ‘Although the Isle of Man was unsuccessful in winning a prize on this occasion, I am delighted, and it is indeed a great honour, that the Department of Tourism and Leisure was nominated for a top award in the Travel Advertising Awards 2007. It’s all credit to the Tourism Division’s hard working team who put in long hours designing and preparing the adverts.’

The event is known as the top awards ceremony in the UK travel advertising calendar and is designed to recognise the best creative work in the travel industry.
