The Isle of Man Water Authority A1, Peel to Douglas Road, traffic management 23 November 2007

The Isle of Man Water Authority’s new trunk main being installed between Poortown (Heritage Trail) and the Ballacallin Service Reservoir is on schedule. The 3,500m project, divided into two phases of 1,200m and 2,300m in length, is progressing well.

Phase one was awarded to Paul Carey and Sons in September and as part of this scheme it is planned to cross the A1 Peel to Douglas Road on the St Johns side of Peel Cemetery. Work will commence on Monday, 3rd December and will require traffic management for up to one week up to Friday, 7th December, 2007.

The Water Authority requests that motorists take extra care whilst these necessary works take place on this busy stretch of road.

To date Paul Carey and Sons have already installed more than three quarters of the 355mm-diameter HPPE pipeline, including successfully crossing the A20 Poortown Road.

The second phase, which is 2,300m in length, was recently awarded to Lagan (IoM) Limited and will see the new main link up with Ballacallin Service Reservoir in early 2008. The Authority and Paul Carey and Sons apologise for any inconvenience caused. For further information please contact the Customer Services Department on 695999.
