Job Market Statistics November 2007 13 December 2007

Helped by the seasonal increase in recruitment in retailing, unemployment fell by 49 during November to end the month at 562, 1.3% of the economically active population. This is the lowest November figure for three years.

During the month of November 175 claimants signed on the unemployment register but 224 signed off. Of the total, 375 are males and 187 are females. These figures include 21 persons who require work permits and 41 who were signing on only for National Insurance credits.

A total of 536 job vacancies were notified to the Job Centre during November and at the end of the month 280 vacancies were held on file.
