New Assistant Director of Social Services 20 December 2007

The Department of Health and Social Security is pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Lever as Assistant Director of Social Services (Adults). Tony replaces Andrew Swithinbank who has stepped up to the post of Director of Social Services. This key post includes responsibility for services for older people and people with disabilities in the island.

Hon W E Teare MHK, Minister for Health and Social Security said,

“The appointment of Tony Lever will provide continuity to the work of the adult services team and his valuable skills and experience will be an asset in moving the work of Social Services forward”.

Andrew Swithinbank, Director of Social Services said,

“I am pleased to welcome Tony to his new post and I know that members of the Social Services Leadership Team are looking forward to working with him. He is the ideal person to consolidate and develop services for adults on the Isle of Man”.

Tony Lever, new Assistant Director of Social Services (Adults) said,

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity of taking on this leadership role. I look forward to working with the dedicated adult services team and our partners to help shape future quality services”.

Prior to taking up this post, Tony has been General Manager for Services for People with Learning Disabilities for three years. Tony has had a wide ranging career and was previously the care and support director for a Yorkshire based housing association. Tony has a Masters degree in community care.
