Pandemic Planning 15 January 2008

In November 2007, the Financial Supervision Commission announced that it intended to conduct a review with a sample of licenceholders in order to assess the potential impact of an outbreak of pandemic influenza and their planning for such an event. This was with a view to issuing guidance to licenceholders on planning for pandemic influenza as part of business continuity arrangements.

Shortly after this press notice was released, the UK Government Cabinet Office issued an extensive revised document on the subject at its contingency planning website “ukresiliance”.

This release is being circulated to FSC licenceholders for background information. It sets out some of the main features of the UK Government’s report and highlights its main conclusions which appear relevant to the financial services industry.
