New venue for New Age Kurling and Additional Needs Badminton 23 January 2008

Isle of Man New Age Kurling and Additional Needs Badminton which were both set up last year by the Sports Development Unit now have a brand new venue. As from Saturday 2nd February 2008 they will both take place at the new Project 21 building on Greenfield Road, Douglas (leading to Isle of Man College). “The building has some great facilities and can cater for people of all abilities” said Dave Callaghan Disability Sports Development Officer.

New Age Kurling is similar in respect to bowls but using flattened hard rubber Kurling stones with ball bearings beneath. These are launched on a flat surface towards a target area, this is the skill part. The strategy part is perhaps to block your opponents Kurling stones by placing them around the bulls eye of the target preventing the scoring of your opponent.

Additional Needs Badminton caters for people who may need that little bit extra help to take part in this great social sport

Times for the activities will be: Badminton 12:00noon till 2:00pm & New Age Kurling 2:00pm till 4:00pm

For more information on these activities contact: Dave Callaghan on 688559 or email
