Investing in Volunteers at Noble’s Hospital 25 January 2008

The Department of Health and Social Security is delighted to announce that Noble’s Hospital Volunteer Service has achieved the Investing in Volunteers Quality Standard, which recognises the excellent work Noble’s Hospital achieves with volunteers.

Hon W E Teare MHK, Minister for Health and Social Security said,

Noble’s Hospital was assessed against a range of best practice standards and proved to excel in all aspects of working with volunteers. Volunteers form an integral part of the Noble’s Team and provides an invaluable service to patients and visitors. The time and effort volunteers give to the Hospital is greatly appreciated by the Department and everyone who visits the Hospital.”

Mrs Pamela Crowe MLC, Member for Health said,

“Investing in Volunteers aims to improve the quality of the volunteering experience for all volunteers working in all organisations. Investing in Volunteers is also designed to acknowledge the enormous contribution made to society by volunteers. The amount of work put in by all the volunteer team to achieve the Investing in Volunteers Quality Standard was tremendous and we are all extremely proud to be the first organisation in the Isle of Man to be accredited with the award.”

Mrs Crowe added,

“I am delighted for Alison Lester, Volunteer Service Manager, and all the team of volunteers who have achieved this success through their hard work and commitment”

Investing in Volunteers is unique in that it is the only standard that focuses on volunteers. It is based on four areas of volunteer management; planning for volunteer involvement, recruiting volunteers, selecting and matching volunteers and supporting and retaining volunteers. Investing in Volunteers is the only quality standard that has independent external validation with a UK Quality Assurance Panel and makes recommendations to the awarding body; the UK Volunteering Forum.
