NSC Hosts Charity Fundraising Event 13 March 2008

The National Sports Centre staff hosted a charity fundraising event recently to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA). Over fifty members of staff participated in this fun packed event involving team races in the NSC pool. The contest consisted of four large teams of staff pulling and pushing Santa Claus on a floating raft for a full hour.

Whilst this was going on, the teams were being bombarded by wet sponges from the sidelines. Staff also had to race down the slides in an attempt to gain more points for their team.

In addition to the swimming gala, Tourism and Leisure Staff at St Andrews House had a collection, which added to the overall total. The amount raised from various collections was £2,065.61.

The event itself was in honour of former employee Mrs Jackie Corkhill who recently passed away.

The political member for sports, (Department of Tourism & Leisure) Mr Quintin Gill said:

‘Jackie was a much loved and popular member of staff. She was a truly inspiring lady who will be sadly missed.’
