Skipping Rope Removed From Live Lines 17 April 2008

The remains of a skipping rope were recently removed from a low voltage overhead power line. The incident was reported by a member of the public on the morning of Friday 11 April at Walpole Avenue, Ramsey. MEA Engineers were despatched immediately and the offending item was removed safely.

Fortunately for the owner of the rope attempts had not been made to remove it and the incident did not cause supplies to be affected throughout the time the rope was on the line or during its removal.

With the light evenings upon us and summer holidays just around the corner, the MEA cannot stress strongly enough to parents and children how important it is to not play near, or interfere with power lines or electrical substations. Coming into contact with electricity can be fatal and thankfully on this occasion nobody came to any harm.

Should a problem such as this occur in the future the Authority requests that you immediately call their 24-hour telephone line 687687. Please help to keep our children safe.
