Sports Development May Questionnaire Winner 11 June 2008

Sports Development May Questionnaire Winner….. Congratulations!! To Duncan Waterson age 13 of Castletown who correctly answered the Sports Development Unit Quiz question for the month of May.

The question which was posted on the SDU website was: “Where are the 2008 Olympic Games to be held?” which Duncan correctly answered as Beijing in China.

As his prize Duncan receives ‘Unlimited Access’ to the activities on the Department of Tourism and Leisure’s Summer Holiday Sports Programme. This means that Duncan can go on any of the huge array of sports activities on offer over the six week holiday period Absolutely Free!!

Duncan said: “

I am delighted to have won the competition, as I am keen on playing many different sports. I have been to lots of Manx Sport and Recreation activities before, and I can’t wait for the summer holidays to start so I can attend many more"

A question is posted on the website each month for children aged 8 – 15yrs to answer. To be in with a chance of winning the Sports Developments Quiz for June go to: Click on the Sports Development tab and then Question of Sport .

Paul Bridson, Sports Development Manager, for the Department of Tourism and Leisure said

“We introduced this initiative as a way of encouraging more young people to visit our website. Communicating with children is vital in assisting them with access to sports provision and thus helping them lead a healthy lifestyle. Our website is expanding all the time, as we aim to post more information about the activities which the Sports Development Unit can provide.”

The Sports Development Unit is currently running a comprehensive term time (after school) programme of activities at the NSC on Monday – Friday, and shall be facilitating a sports activity programme during the Summer holidays.
