‘Island Lives’ Advertising Campaign 9 July 2008

The Department of Tourism and Leisure are looking to film and photograph genuine people enjoying their day to day or weekend activities to promote the beautiful Isle of Man.

As part of a long term strategic investment, the Council of Ministers have approved a budget for television advertising to ensure that the Isle of Man is considered as a short-break destination.

This summer the Isle of Man Department of Tourism and Leisure will be producing three television commercials featuring different aspects of the island. The new television and print campaign will aim to reach potential visitors to the Island to experience the quality of life that Island residents enjoy. The television campaign will run on National UK Television and in news publications from 1st October 2008. Each section of the advertising campaign will feature one of three categories, namely Lifestyle, Nature and Adventure.

If anyone has a keen interest and participates on a regular basis in activities within any of the above categories the Department of Tourism and Leisure would be delighted to hear from them. They will be holding three casting sessions, in different parts of the island, next week and anyone participating in the auditions will be required to fill out a form and be interviewed whilst being filmed on camera.

The dates and locations will be: T

Tuesday 15th July, 5pm-9pm. Philip Christian Children's Centre (behind Peel Town Hall), Derby Road, Peel.

Wednesday 16th July, 12pm-4pm. Memorial Hall, Main Road, Union Mills.

Thursday 17th July, 8am -12pm. St. Catherine's Church Hall, Church Road, Port Erin.

The advertising campaign is scheduled to be filmed and photographed during the last two weeks of August this year. Filming and photography for each category will take from two to four days. A small daily shoot fee will be paid plus any expenses.

There is no age restriction but participants in the campaign will be required to sign a release form allowing the Department of Tourism and Leisure to use the material. There is also a requirement that anyone taking part does not have any criminal convictions or records.
