Top speakers lined up for Department conference 9 July 2008

LEADING speakers will address the Department of Education's bi-ennial Leadership Conference on Friday and Saturday.

The conference, entitled 'A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body', takes place at the Isle of Man College. Some 160 delegates from the Department of Education and its schools and College, as well as from other Government Departments, are registered to attend.Mick Waters

Among them are nutrition and behaviour expert Dr Alex Richardson, Director of Curriculum at the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority Mick Waters and Sam Mellor, head of the UK Government's National Healthy Schools Programme.

Minister for Education the Hon Mrs Anne Craine MHK will open the conference on Friday morning after a welcome from Acting Depuuty Director of Education Stuart Dobson. Island Director of Public Health Dr Parameswaran Kishore is also a keynote speaker.

Delegates will participate in their choice from 10 workshops over the two days. There will be a conference dinner at the Empress Hotel on Friday evening, with 80 guests in attendance.
