Financial Sanctions: Al-Qaida and the Taliban 28 July 2008

This news release is issued in respect of the financial measures taken against Al-Qaida and the Taliban.

The Treasury issues this notification to advise that on 23 July 2008 the United Nations Sanctions Committee approved a number of amendments to the UN Consolidated List maintained under Resolution 1390 (2002). The individuals and entities continue to fall within the financial sanctions regime under the Al-Qaida and Taliban (United Nations Measures) (Isle of Man) Order 2001.

The amendments made by the United Nations Sanctions Committee are set out in the Annex to this news release.

Financial institutions and other persons are required to check whether they maintain any accounts or otherwise hold any funds, other financial assets, economic benefits and economic resources for the individuals and entities named above. If so, they should freeze the account or other funds and report their findings to the Sanctions Officer.
