DAFF releases questionnaire on local food market 1 August 2008

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry are working with a local independent researcher to undertake market research on the local food market in the Isle of Man.

Minister for Agriculture Phil Gawne MHK said: ‘It is important for us to understand views and opinions about the local food market, in order for the Isle of Man to develop its produce to better satisfy the needs and wants of the public’.

It is very important for DAFF to gain an unbiased, representative view of the local food market, from the general public. To achieve this, questionnaires are being sent out to a large random sample of households on the Island. The feedback gathered through these questionnaires from consumers will be critical in helping to understand some of the ways in which the local food industry can adapt to meet the challenges that lie ahead.

The questionnaire has also been made available to download and self complete, on the DAFF website

The Minister added: “We would be very grateful if as many people as possible would complete the questionnaire and return it by the 18th August 2008.”

Research results will be made available to the industry and interested parties upon completion of the project at the end of the summer period.
