Consultation Paper into the proposed legislative changes affecting the Island's taxi services 6 August 2008

The Isle of Man Government, through the offices of the Minister for Transport, is undertaking a consultation into proposed legislative changes affecting the Island’s Taxi industry. The consultation will initially involve a written questionnaire to:

• Existing taxi operators and drivers

• Applicants for new and/or amended licenses

• Members of Tynwald

Government Departments

• Local Authorities

• Road Transport Licensing Committee

• Groups representing members of society with a disability

• The Attorney General

• IOM Law Society

• Chamber of Commerce

This consultation exercise focuses on the proposed legislative changes and the possibility of:

• All-Island Licensing

• Delimiting the issue of Ply-for-Hire Licences

The Department also invites members of the public to comment on the proposal and alternatives to the proposal.
