DHSS Promotes Customer Services 27 August 2008

The Department of Health and Social Security has announced that in the upcoming weeks, it will be promoting the value of customer services throughout the Department. Everyone using a DHSS service is encouraged to ask about the DHSS Code of Practice and Service Standards.

Eddie Teare MHK, Minister for Health and Social Security said,

“We all expect to receive good service from those who supply us with goods and services. Many of the issues which are referred to me arise as a result of us failing to respond in an open, honest and timely manner. I am convinced that by delivering a high quality service within agreed timescales, we can meet and exceed our patients, clients and service users expectations.”

The Department has updated and re-launched its Code of Practice for the Delivery of Services to Customers. This Code outlines the philosophy that the Department of Health and Social Security has towards customer services and how they should be delivered.

In addition to this, each Division and Directorate has prepared service standards that give detailed promises for what people can expect when accessing Department of Health and Social Security Services.

The Code of Practice and Service Standards are available from any DHSS building, online at and on demand. For more information, contact Jan Mellows on 685639.
