2009 Tt Homestay Scheme Launched This Week 17 November 2008

HOMESTAY Registration for the TT festival and Manx Grand Prix 2009 was launched this week. The Department of Tourism and Leisure has sent out registration forms to providers who have previously registered offering them the opportunity to register for the scheme again next year.

Householders considering offering Homestay accommodation for both events are advised to register their property with the Department as soon as possible to help to meet the ever-increasing demand and enable visitors to secure their bookings early. The registration fees are £8.00 for TT or £11.00 for both the Manx Grand Prix and TT.

Homestay can be offered during TT for any number of nights between May 30th and June 13th and for Manx Grand Prix between August 22nd and September 4th 2009. Last year alone the Department registered over 700 properties.

Tourism and Leisure Minister Hon Martyn Quayle MHK commented:

‘The Homestay scheme complements the Department of Tourism and Leisure’s current advertising campaign focusing on the Island’s lifestyle and culture. Homestay is one of the best ways for TT fans wishing to experience the Manx way of life and, from the feedback we receive, we know that the majority of visitors have a most enjoyable, rewarding and memorable stay with their host families.

It is a great way for Manx residents who like the idea of earning some extra money and it also benefits race fans, who without the scheme, would be unable to visit.’

For further information and to register for the Homestay scheme please call Pippa Gilbert on 686802 or email . The guidance notes can also be viewed on
