Mental Health Service achieves Investors in People award for fourth time 17 November 2008

The Department of Health and Social Security are pleased to announce that the Mental Health Service has been accredited with the Investors in People (IIP) award for the fourth time.

Investors in People is the international standard that sets a level of good practice for training and development of staff to meet business goals. The Mental Health Service was first measured against this standard in March 2000 and in maintaining Investors in People the Mental Health Service has continued to demonstrate their commitment to supporting staff in their learning and development.

Andrew Swithinbank, Director of Social Services said,

“I am very pleased with the effort and commitment of Mental Health staff to ensure the accreditation of the Investors in People award for the fourth time. This award indicates the priority the Department gives to staff training, development and welfare, which is reflected in the quality of service delivered to the public.”

Investors in People assessor Peter Clarke stated in his report that he “was satisfied beyond any reasonable doubt that the Isle of Man Mental Health Service continues to meet the requirements of the Investors in People Standard.”

David Cretney MHK, Minister for Trade and Industry, presented the Mental Health Management Team and the Director of Social Services with a framed certificate to mark the achievement at an event on Monday 10th November.
