Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival 2009 - Departments Seek Expressions of Interest 5 December 2008

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and the Department of Tourism and Leisure are seeking expressions of interest for the 2009 Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival.

The festival is due to take place on the 26th and 27th September, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is intended to be a platform for producers, suppliers and retailers to promote local produce to Island residents and visitors alike. The hub of the festival will be the Villa Marina gardens which will feature the Manx Food Live Theatre with cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs, exhibitor marquees, farmers’ market and more.

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Hon Phil Gawne MHK said “The Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival will be a major event in both the local and national food calendars. We have a wide and varied range of quality local produce on the Island and this event will give local producers an opportunity to showcase their outstanding produce to residents and visitors alike. I would like to encourage all local producers, retailers, cafes and restaurants to join the festival and help to make it a huge success.’

The Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Hon Martyn Quayle MHK said “We believe the Festival will further raise the Island’s reputation for quality food and drink and encourage greater demand for local produce from visitors and residents fifty two weeks of the year”.

A working group has been established to co-ordinate the festival in 2009 and are looking for expressions of interest in the following areas:
