Director of Tourism To Retire 29 April 2009

Geoff Le Page, Director of Tourism, will retire on 31st October this year after working for 12 years with the Department of Tourism and Leisure.

Born in Guernsey, Geoff was educated at Elizabeth College and went on to join British European Airways on a three year training programme. He then worked for British Airways, Horizon Holidays and Thomson Holidays and, prior to moving to the Isle of Man, ran Isle of Wight Tourism. He has been a Member of the Tourism Society for many years and was recently elected a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Hon Martyn Quayle MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure said:

‘Geoff has shown tremendous commitment, enthusiasm and loyalty throughout the years and I would like to thank him for his dedication and support during his career with the Isle of Man Department of Tourism and Leisure. Whilst always striving to do his best for Tourism, he has always been supportive of his staff who want to progress and develop and I know his friendship will be greatly missed by his colleagues. We all wish him the best for the future.’ Geoff said: ‘It has been an exciting and challenging 12 years. I would like to thank all my colleagues in the Department, Government and the Industry because meeting all the challenges and changes tourism has undergone over the 12 years could not have been achieved without them. I’m looking forward to keeping busy in my retirement as well as finding time to travel.’
